Meet the founder
This section is dedicated to meeting SETsquared Exeter's early-stage members and discovering what inspired them to pursue their ventures.

May 2022
Welcome to Laura and Sarah from Mama Health.

April 2022
Welcome to Ray Staines from Kyne.

What is your venture?
Kyne is an early years neuro-inclusive learning platform with built in screening for literacy learning differences providing real time “the-moment-its-needed” diagnostics for children so they never get behind. Kyne also reaches across the whole learning demographic and a wide range of educational settings to build a database of learning traits that will inform teaching strategies at local, regional and national levels.

Why did you start this journey?
I left school at the age of 16 with mental health issues, a drug habit and very poor prospects. By the age of 21 I’d had a major mental breakdown.  At age 39 I was diagnosed with dyslexia and language processing disorder.  No one should find out the hard way - but the major diagnostic for dyslexia to this day is failure and it is estimated that 80% of dyslexia goes undiagnosed in our schools.

What is your vision?
We’re on a mission to help children discover and enjoy writing - and our purpose is to make a world without illiteracy - where every child reaches their full potential.
