Earlier this month, three innovative SETsquared Exeter businesses pitched for investment at the 2020 SETsquared Investment Showcase. This coveted annual event is reserved for a shortlist of SETsquared member organisations with high investment potential.
Running for the past 17 years, the Investment Showcase has become a huge success, attracting hundreds of investors, seasoned entrepreneurs, corporate investors and VCs, all looking to invest in companies with the potential to become the tech giants of tomorrow. Already, the total raised by companies who have previously participated exceeds £100m.
This year SETsquared Exeter was represented by programme members Role Mapper, Oooby and Intelligent AI, who all gathered online with businesses from across the SETsquared partnership and took a turn to present their investment pitches to the panel.
Pete Russell, Founder of Oooby (Out of Our Own Back Yard) a local, organic fruit and vegetable box delivery scheme spoke of his pitching experience:
“The SETsquared team were very professional and did a tremendous job of creating a successful investment showcase where we were able to pitch to ~180 prospective investors. The training and support leading up to the pitch was excellent, and I felt confident that I was in good hands and good company on the day. I highly recommend working with the SETsquared team if you're planning on raising capital for your start-up!”
Ben Voysey, SETsquared Exeter’s Incubation and Acceleration Manager commented:
“We are delighted that 3 very strong Exeter companies made it through to the final of 2020 Invest. The Investment Showcase is the culmination of 3 months of intensive investor readiness training for our businesses and it is great the see them putting this to great use in front of hundreds of seasoned investors. Already, our finalists have received over 30 follow-up enquiries from interested parties and I am looking forward to supporting them as they progress on to the next phase of their investment journey."
